Flu Vaccine Update!

Back to Homepage

We currently have a limited supply of the following flu vaccines:
  • INJECTABLE SEASONAL FLU VACCINE FOR ALL AGES (6 MONTHS AND UP)
  • INJECTABLE H1N1 VACCINE FOR ALL AGES (6 MONTHS AND UP)

Erie County Health is running a number of free flu clinics in the near future - you may find the details here!

You may call the office for an appointment to receive the vaccine while supplies last.   When we are out, we will update the web site.

Williamsville Pediatric Center, in accordance with CDC guidelines, recommends both the seasonal flu and H1N1 (swine) flu vaccine for all children aged 6 months and up.
  • The vaccine is available in an injection (the "flu shot") and a nasal spray version.
  • Full safety information available on the Vaccine Information Sheet for the shot or the nasal spray, and a new resource from the CDC - FAQ about the H1N1 vaccine.
  • Common problems associated with both flu vaccines include:
    • Soreness, redness or swelling where the shot was given
    • Hoarseness, sore or red eyes, cough, itchiness
    • Fever
    • Aches
  • If these problems occur, they usually begin soon after the shot and last 1-2 days
  • Severe problems, including life threatening allergic reactions from vaccines are very rare.   If they do occur, it is usually within a few minutes to a few hours after the shot.
  • Children less than 10 years of age require two shots a month apart the first time they get the seasonal or H1N1 (swine) flu vaccine.
  • Please refer to the CDC web site for further information.
